You Learn Something New Every Day
Just when you think you know quite a bit about something, someone comes along and proves you wrong…and that’s a good thing. Some of Elrae’s personnel recently learned this lesson when they took a 12 hour basic "Word" and/or "Excel" class at Erie Community College as part of the training grant Elrae was awarded.
One might say, as did some of our participants, "Doesn’t everyone these days already know the basics for Word or Excel?" Oh contraire! Everyone who attended the classes (ranging from management to clerical staff) left with a little more knowledge than they started with, picking up neat little things that can be done to enhance the use of these programs…one of those "Wow, I never realized you could do that" situations. The course instructor was truly knowledgeable and made the learning fun and interesting. We’ve already had requests to attend future offerings of the classes.
Also part of the grant, some of our other employees are just finishing a GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) class here at Elrae taught by another instructor from Erie Community College. Participants include members of our QA department, a design engineer and tool room personnel. For some, the course is a refresher and for others, it’s all new material. All participants feel the classes have been a positive experience.
Bottom line, Elrae’s employees are eager to learn and we’re happy to oblige them! The more knowledge our team has to offer the better the job we can do for our customers and associates.
