Safety Really Rules at Elrae!
What’s in a name? In the case of Elrae, you could call us Elrae "Safety" Industries – because safety truly is our middle name!
Safety rules at Elrae. And we say "Great job and congratulations" to all Elrae employees for achieving a very impressive 725 days-plus of no lost-time accidents.
We know our employees are the best. They continue to prove it in all areas, time after time. And this accomplishment is, well, no accident. We work at it. From day one, every new employee is exposed to safety first on the job and is continuously introduced to various types of safety training and retraining throughout their career at Elrae.
We take safety seriously, yet try to make it fun, too. Elrae plays safety bingo, for example. Every employee is issued a bingo card and for each day without a lost-time accident, a number is drawn, giving employees a chance to win prizes year ‘round.
Safety awards are also distributed on an annual basis to each shop employee who has experienced no accidents within that year. Our Safety Committee (comprised Bob Gast, Jerry Bardak, Al Scinta, Walt Orton, & Paul Lingenfelter) meets once a month to discuss safety issues, conduct a shop walk-through to pin-point problem areas, and make recommendations for correction. They are the shop watchdogs and not much gets past them.
As a matter of fact, even the president of the company gets sent back to get his safety glasses, should he try to walk out on the shop floor without them! We’re so serious about keeping our employees safe that we actually invite our NYS OSHA consultant to come and make on-site inspections. Should the inspector find any problems, they’re corrected immediately and we rest easy, knowing our plant is as safe as can be. The Precision Metal-Forming Association, a national organization comprised of hundreds of metal-forming companies, has recognized Elare’s safety record as well.
To commemorate our recent record-breaking safety achievement, Elrae employees will be treated to a very special luncheon and personal gift. Once again, congratulations to all and thank you for helping to keep Elrae at its safest and best!
